“I went to Mayfield when it was brand new, three years ago. . I was in the GT program and I loved it, but the older you get the more you understand what is going on. The majority iof the teachers don't understand what GT is really about. It is about being on an advanced level and wanting to learn. However, we are still kids and are going to act like kids, the teachers don't understand this and put us on a pedestal like we are the statue of perfection. It puts a lot of pressure on us, sometimes a little too much pressure. The teachers dont understand that wse are supposed to get advanced work, not just double the load of regular classes. Just to give you a sample of what GT is really like.”

“Mayfield is a great school. They have some great caring teachers (Ms Sutton and Mr Tressler!) and bad, like any other school. We did have an issue with bullying (I think it's the age), which the school could have addressed better. We contacted the parent ourselves and the problem was resolved. The administration seems to do a good job.”

“I am 6th grade student at Mayfield, and I LOVE IT! The education is wonderful, and so are the teachers! And yes, I do agree that there is a bullying problem (I was bullied in 5th grade). And it is not true that the 'GT' kids seem to be respectful. The other classrooms are not different then the 'GT' classes. We do the same exact things, and there are respectful, coopertive kids, and kids who understand that school is a place to learn. I am not in 'GT', and I LOVE SCHOOL and HOMEWORK! I am upsatairs again for this 2009-2010 school year, and I love my teacher! So it is not true about what the number 1 of the reviews said!”

“My 5th grader has done very well in the 2008-09 school year at Mayfield. However, she was placed in the 'GT' classes. I have a friend whose 5th grader was not in 'GT' classes and he hates going to school. There is a huge difference in classroom environments; the 'GT' kids seem to be more cooperative and respectful and understand that school is a place for learning, while the other classrooms are filled with the opposite types of attitudes. It is unfortunate. Overall, we have been pleased as parents in our experience with Mayfield. And yes, bullying has been a problem for my friend's child and the teachers didn't have much help to offer.”

“Mayfield Intermediate is an excellent example of modern education. There is a WIDE range of clubs, sports, and organizations that students can participate in. The academic oppurtunities also are not available to fifth graders at any elementary school. You would be very hard pressed to find a student that is not happy at Mayfield.”

“My child attended Mayfield it's opening year. He was a 5th grader......we switched school districts so he would not have to attend there for 6th grade. Bullying was a big problem...quality of education was another. Teachers were aware of bullying but said there was not much they could do....my son was behind when he started school this year even though he made good grades there.”

“Mayfield is an excellent school. My child had the wonderful opportunity to spend two years at Mayfield. The administration is superior. They are involved in all activities, concerned about the students and supportive to the parents. The teachers consistently provide a safe, challenging, and encouraging environment for learning and growth. The clubs and extracurricular activities are varied and designed with the age group in mind. The PTA is active and provides many opportunities for the students. My only regret is that my child only can spend 2 years at Mayfield.”

“This is a beautiful new school, my child was excited to attend its opening year. They seem to busy with their 'meetings' to care about their students safety. I am very disappointed in the administration. I honestly fear for the safety of my child in this school. Bullying has been a huge issue that remains unresolved. Without the care or concern of the staff for their students. Overall, I feel they are more concerned with the appearance of the school than they are with the safety and ability to receive an education without fear of bullies. That concerns me deeply as a parent.”
